WT Georgia1 upcoming · HikingThe route runs from the medieval Kojori (Azeula) Fortress to Asureti, a 19th-century settlement founded by German colonists. The hike is suitable for beginners.
What happens
- First, you’ll visit Azeula Fortress, which is associated with a legend about Queen Tamar. From here, you can enjoy views of Tbilisi and the surrounding area, and on a clear day, you may be able to see Tbilisi Sea.
- Then you’ll descend to Asureti, stopping along the way at the ruins of Kabeni Monastery. In Asureti, you’ll explore the settlement and visit the old Lutheran cemetery.
