Over six weeks, you’ll make four ceramic pieces: a bowl, a mug, a vase and a tumbler. The course also includes painting the mug and glazing the pieces.
What happens
- The course begins with a theory session, followed by making a bowl from speckled grogged clay using the slab technique.
- Next, you’ll hand-build a mug from light-coloured high-fire clay using the pinch technique, and a vase from beige grogged clay using the coil technique.
- Then you’ll assemble a tumbler from black grogged clay using the slab technique and create a template for it.
- After that, you’ll decorate the mug with underglaze paints and pencils, and glaze all the pieces.
Who it suits
Beginners are welcome: you’ll get to know the materials and explore different hand-building techniques.
Who leads it
The classes are led by experienced ceramic artists. They’ll introduce you to the basics, share their techniques and guide you at every stage.
Good to know
- The weekday group has six classes, with no more than eight people in each group. All materials are included.
- After the course, you’ll receive a certificate for your first session at a ceramic coworking studio, where you can practise independently.
