At the Minsk Sea, you’ll watch northern waterbirds passing through on migration. The organisers expect to see at least 30 species during the field workshop.
What happens
- The route will be decided on the day. You’ll learn to identify birds by their calls, practise using a spotting scope and learn how to indicate a bird’s location accurately.
- Possible sightings include loons, red-breasted and common mergansers, red-necked grebes, scoters, common scoters and other waterbird species.
- The Minsk Sea is important for waterbirds. There is greater bird diversity around bodies of water, and many areas of woodland along the shores.
Who it suits
The workshop is intended for beginner birdwatchers.

- You can get to the site by car or public transport, for example by taking the suburban train to Minsk Sea station.
